I'm saying Tails SadisticMystic deserves it.

Dammit, I've been in the chatroom too long...
The moon is so red. Looks like it's going to be a fun night.

And TSC's GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME is...

DarkspinesSonic
smizzla
SadisticMystic
PPA

...

Stephen "yoshifan" Chan: The very best, like no one ever was.

(I bet if yoshifan played Pokemon, he'd be awesome at that too.)

And so we arrive at the end once again. And I leave you with the definitive all-rounder. I once called RPG the all-rounder, but he is a specialist in comparison. Part of yoshifan's repertoire can, as always, be found at the end of the bio.

yoshifan and TSC go way back, back to December 2003 in fact. One thing I remember from early 2004 is that many of the 2D videos were courtesy of him (with the remainder being supplied by SM). Of course, not many of them hold up today, but at least the Spring Yard 3 video is still active! The most impressive of yoshifan's initial bunch of times was that 2:19 Death Egg 1 Sonic, which lasted nearly two years as a record even with the strat being made clearly known.

Then, like many players, we didn't see him for a while. And then late 2005 and early 2006 saw his comeback. A player who had previously shown himself to be a 2D specialist was taking records all over the place in Sonic Heroes! This was followed by spurts in SA2B and Shadow, the latter of which led to the championship in quick time. SA2B, of course, took more time, but once yoshifan was done he established a position of dominance so powerful that many wonder if there will ever be another SA2B champion.

I once made it my stated goal to be ranked on all the major rankings sites around (Mario Kart 64, F-Zero, The Elite, etc). yoshifan has me well and truly beaten to the punch, I think he's on all of them except for Score Hero (see #2), and I didn't check that thoroughly. Not to mention, of course, his brilliant SA2B Hero speedrun on SDA, and various level speedruns on We Love Katamari.

We have a new champion!

yoshifan's TSC Profile (#9)
yoshifan's We Love Katamari individual levels (other contributors: slowbro, matthew69, khfan1, Dr. Thinker, The Prince's Bride)
yoshifan's Sonic Adventure 2 Hero speedrun
yoshifan's MKDS Profile (#336)
Also some absurd rank like 30th in F-Zero MV but I can't work out how to link those :(

#10: Cybrax
#9: NintenDan
#8: Shadow Jacky
#7: SkyLights
#6: stanski
#5: SprintGod
#4: mike89
#3: eredani
#2: SuperSonic101
#1: yoshifan

Honourable mentions coming right up.

Now for the fun part. I get to throw crap at you all and you all applaud me at the end.

RPG, Douglas, Quartz - Apologies for shattering your dream so early, but you all knew you weren't realistic chances, right? :)

SM - Wow. I really screwed up on this one. SM should've probably been about... #4. Which meant I could've easily moved myself back out of the top five where I hardly belong... Sorry about that. :/

Sondow - Ranked 69th out of 575 players, Sondow is beating 506 able-handed players. With three fingers. I calculate that with a full complement of ten fingers, Sondow would be beating approximately 1677 players, for a ranking of -1101st. This deserves some recognition.

DsS and smizzla - It seems rather unreasonable to leave the current top two out of an all time top ten, especially when both have made their rise through the rankings in such quick time. However, I decided to leave smizzla out because he was banned four years ago (and fresh concerns have been raised about his legitimacy), and DsS is black.

Thorn - Might have made it if Knuckles Chaotix didn't suck so much. Oh well. Pick a better game next time!

And finally...

Rolken - I prefer to think of Rolken as holding the keys to the Matrix, but other than that I agree with Antiporcupine. He's the reason you care about any of this today. Everyone, three cheers for Rolken!

-----

And... that's it. It's all over.

I've loved having this opportunity to a) rate the achievements of various TSCers against each other, b) slander all your good names, and c) have lots of fun and a laugh in the process.

Some special thanks are in order. Firstly to RPG, who, even though he didn't always fulfil his quota, on time, has persevered with what was essentially my idea, generally agreed with my decisions (sometimes at the expense of the validity of the ranking itself), and taken on a share of the work that could reasonably have been thrown back on me, as it was this time.

Secondly, as already mentioned, to Rolken, without whom this idea would never have come to fruition because we'd all still be competing with each other by proxy.

Third, to SM who steadfastly corrected every single mistake I made during the course of the Top Tens' lifetime. And there were lots of them, particularly in this iteration because of the lack of a time machine.

And finally, to everyone who contributed to the fun of the Top Tens every six months by speculating, posting random gibberish in the topic, or just waiting with bated breath for the next selection.

I'll be taking "applications" for the right to "host" the next round of Top Tens for the fifth anniversary whenever you feel like enquiring. Until then, have fun and keep on trucking!

~yse

I really don't think I'd be -that- awesome with a full ten usable fingers, but who knows? I guess I will if I ever decide to actually get prosthetic hands or whatever the bloody hell it's called.
Though I most likely won't.

Also congrats yoshi :o

Well, it's almost that time of the year again!

We're only a month away from the big 5th birthday bash, and as we know there will be a new pair of Top Ten convenors this time around. For those of you who don't already know, I'd like to congratulate... douglas and genus!

If you would come to the stage and take this epic hat of mine, and steal RPG's crown for me, it'd be much appreciated!

Now that the formalities are over, I get to join the ranks of the speculators! Woohoo!

It's that time again – the Top Tens are back! This time around, in order to celebrate TSC's 5th birthday and to get everyone over the post-mike-and-RPG blues, we're doing something a little bit special. Welcome to...

Our subject this year will be the Top Ten Top Tens!

A quick moment to explain is probably necessary. This isn't a recap of previous Top Tens, they're all new. Beginning on October 13 and on each day leading up to TSC's fifth anniversary, we'll post a subject and rank its notable components. Each post will contain the subject of the next 'top 10' topic, leaving everyone to quickly publish a scrambled attempt to correctly guess where the rankings will fall.  The idea is that Doug can get asshattery out of his system after a few posts, and with genus' libido for recursive humor, he'll have all the material he needs to make recursive jokes to satisfy his libido for recursive humor. We may intentionally drive the affair into the ground for our own amusement.

(genus comment: Actually, I shouldn't refer to myself in the first person, then you guys might pick up on the fact that this post was prepared weeks in advance...)

(Douglas comment: Don't tell them that, you arse)

(genus comment: Fine, I'll change the subject of these sentences when I post them and omit these lines.)

We'll be taking a trip through TSC history – all the players, all the events, and all the silliness that's accrued throughout the years.

So without further ado, let the speculation commence!

I HOPE YOU DO

You're supposed to start on October 14, noobs.

Other than that, I am rather interested to see how this plays out.

Relatedly, doug suggesting that this was an ambitious project makes a lot more sense now!

zomg double post

So as promised, the announcement of Top Ten #10 to give you all speculating time is . . .

TOP TEN NOOBS

Including all of you for not speculating enough :(

But seriously, as mentioned before there is going to be some stupidness and (possibly lame) attempts at humour in this Top Tens, hence the first one.  Rest assured we're not going to be glorifying these idiots, and there is plenty recognition of proper achievements to come :)

Right. Here comes my first ever attempt at speculation :o

#10: Firstkirbyever - or at least an honourable mention. genus will slide him in for his epic failure at mafia
#9: Marcelo - MOMENTTT
#8: smizzla - Because getting banned from here twice is a pretty remarkable achievement.
#7: JoshiG4 - NOW YOU THINK ON WHAT SKILL YOU HAVE COST
#6: sonicandamy - no explanation required
#5: bertin - Because he never beat sonicandamy at anything else.
#4: prcorby - I'll tell my mommy on you!
#3: RingRush - again, no explanation required
#2: RPG - because #1 is too obvious, and this spot fits him better
#1: HCC - The grand daddy of them all. HCC made some legendary claims, absolutely none of which proved true.

How'd I go?
